I have known that I wanted to be an orthodontist since I was eight years of age, at which time I excitedly began my first phase of orthodontic treatment. I was always extremely passionate about science, medicine, and helping and healing people, yet I also loved drawing, designing, and using my hands to express my creativity. As an orthodontist, I am able to be an artist of sorts by giving patients unique and beautiful smiles while using my knowledge of dentofacial orthopedics and oral health to provide them with dentitions that are both functional and beneficial to their entire well-being. I genuinely take pleasure in getting to know each and every patient on a professional as well as a personal level, and I especially enjoy the opportunity to work with children and young adults to positively cultivate their developing self-images and esteems.
Education and Continuing Education
I attended Columbia College in Columbia, SC, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in biology in only three years and graduated with the academic distinction of summa cum laude and served as the valedictorian. I received my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC in 2004 and continued on to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, where I earned my Orthodontic Certificate and completed my Orthodontic Specialty Residency. I exclusively practiced orthodontics for three years during my residency at Vanderbilt University and have been in the private setting, providing excellence in orthodontic care, ever since.
I am a firm believer in the vital significance of continuing education and am therefore a member of the Northern Michigan Orthodontic Study Club as well as the Schulman Study Group, in which I interact and share orthodontic treatment techniques, philosophies, and related ideas with other orthodontists representing the local region, the broader nation, and numerous countries abroad.
Professional Memberships
I am also a member and advocate of the Medical University of South Carolina Alumni Association, the Vanderbilt University Orthodontic Alumni Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Michigan Association of Orthodontists, the Michigan Dental Association, the Saginaw Valley District Dental Society, and the Saginaw County Dental society.
In the Community
I have contributed to and participated in numerous fundraisers and events benefiting the United Way of Saginaw, the Junior League, Saginaw Children’s Museum, Children’s Zoo, Saginaw Art Museum, and Hopevale Church and am continually involved with a variety of activities promoting the high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools of our invaluable local community.
Outside the Office
I was born and raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and I lived along the coast of South Carolina for my entire early life before moving to Nashville for my orthodontic specialty residency at the age of 24. I am therefore a true southern girl at heart! I met Dr. Rich Resler, Jr while attending dental school in Charleston, where we began dating, and our relationship continued through our orthodontics residencies and ultimately brought me here to Saginaw, Michigan, where Dr. Resler, Jr spent his young life and where his father, Dr. Resler, Sr, started his own orthodontic practice over 40 years ago. I have lived in the beautiful Great Lakes Bay area for almost ten years and have found many things to love about the state of Michigan. Dr. Rich Resler, Jr and I celebrated our marriage in 2008, and our family has since grown to include two amazingly adorable boys, Greyson and Easton, and a Portuguese Water Dog, Bear. When I am not practicing orthodontics, I enjoy reading, watching movies, and doing anything related to the beach or the sun, but most importantly, I cherish my time with my family and savor every moment of being a mother!
